>> SIMON : My name is Simon Breivik.

And I look after the fitness

and the medical side for the referees.

What I will often do is a fitness test,

the referees we work with, just to see how fast they can run,

how long they can keep running for, how strong they are.

The best bit about my job is

that I'm not just stuck in an office all day every day.

I'm often outside with the referees

out in the football pitch doing the training.

I might be doing fitness testing on an athletics track

and I travel the country doing that.

[MUSIC]

When I got into working with sport,

I didn't realise just how important really writing would be.

Being a good communicator is very important in my job

because I have hundreds of referees I work with,

whether it's in the phone or face-to-face or emails.

We've got quite a lot of technical language,

which is a bit sciencey,

but what we try to do is make it sound quite straightforward

so that the referees can understand what we're asking for

to help them improve and to help their performances.

I wanted to work with top sports people,

so I studied sports science,

which is a subject you can study at university

which looks into all the different aspects of sports,

so it could fitness, there's psychology as well,

nutrition, teach you how to eat well.

I think sport is really important,

it's a good fun way to do exercise

without really thinking about the exercise you're doing.

It's good for your fitness,

make your muscles stronger and your bones stronger,

and to keep you flexible.

It's good for your social skills,

especially if it's a team sport like football.

It's a really good way to make new friends

and it's a different way to get to know people as well,

to understand how they work

and what your strength and weaknesses are

so you can all work together.
