Exactly 100 years ago this season the club was reformed after a break during the World War. The campaign to re-establish a professional club was led by the local council as part of their project to bring sport at all levels to the town. In this first season back competing the club won the Midland League as “Chesterfield Municipal”. The municipal part was dropped two seasons later when the club re-entered the Football League.
