Take part in the writing challenge set by CBBC presenter Ben Shires and illustrator Nick Sharratt!

Summary

Check out these three challenges where pupils are asked to create their own strong and tough characters. Working independently and in groups, pupils will consider how their characters will look, act and react to a series of scenarios.

This challenge has been created in partnership with the National Literacy Trust.

Pupils will:

  • use their imagination and be creative
  • develop their writing skills.

Teacher guide

This teacher guide includes everything you need to know about the challenge and the live virtual event.

Challenge 1: Create your character

Pupils create their strong and tough character using the traditional game of ‘consequences’.

Challenge 2: Character profile

Pupils work in their groups to complete their Top Trumps style character profile.

Challenge 3: Problem solving

Pupils introduce their characters to the class and then work as a team to choose which characters would be best at solving different problems.
