This resource can be used as an assembly or introductory lesson to introduce pupils to inspiring stories from Black voices in football, exploring themes of identity, community, resilience and belonging through Premier League player film content.

In this film, Premier League players speak about identity, heritage and belonging.

These beautifully illustrated presentations tell the stories of star football players, Demi Stokes and Divock Origi, from their childhood dreams to their professional achievements.

Use these stories as part of a PSHE lesson, at any time of the year, on diversity and inclusion.

These stories are written by Sharna Jackson, award-winning children’s author, and illustrated by Anastasia Magloire Williams.

This activity is suitable for KS1 and KS2 pupils.

Now it's time for pupils to research their own role model and create an illustrated story about them, using the 'My hero writing frame' and 'My hero top tips' for support.

This activity is suitable for KS1 and KS2 pupils.

Pupils will choose an inspiring black woman or girl as their hero to celebrate the theme of 'Saluting our Sisters' for Black History Month.

Demi Stokes talks to Sharna Jackson about her upbringing, early love of football, and her thoughts about why we should all celebrate our heritage and identity.
