Take part in the new weekly challenges for home or school!
We are joining once again with the National Literacy Trust to bring you another exciting challenge and live event this week to celebrate WORLD BOOK DAY!
To explain this week’s Quiz masters challenge, here are top football authors, Alex Bellos & Ben Lyttleton!:
Audio-described version with transcript available.
We’d like you and your family to write your own quiz. Quizzes are a really fun way to share the knowledge you have and to learn new things.
We recommend that you make the quiz multiple-choice: that is, for each question give three possible answers, labelled a), b) and c), only one of which is correct. Make sure the questions are not too difficult, not too easy, and try to make one of the (wrong) answers funny. Some of the best learning comes with laughter! Download our free resource pack including top tips on how to create a great quiz and a template to help you write it.
A special World Book Day live event with our star authors, Alex Bellos and Ben Lyttleton, will take place at 9:15am on World Book Day (Thursday 4 March), presented by CBBC’s Kenzie Benali. There will also be a live quiz, featuring questions from footballers and the chance to win a book box for your school!
Find out how to watch the event on the National Literacy Trust’s Words for Life website. You can also read a copy of the first book in the Football School series for FREE on this page!
Don’t forget to show us your amazing quizzes with us by sharing them on Twitter @PLCommunities using #PLPrimaryStars or emailing them to PLPrimaryStars@premierleague.com. You might even find yourself as our Star of the Week on our community page!
Remember to stay safe online
Only include the young person's first name and age on their pictures, posts and correspondence with us.
While we want children and young people to use their initiative and to be creative with their communication, it is important they follow social distancing guidelines and stay safe.
Safety tips:
Before filming and sending us any videos, make sure to note:
• Only parents or teachers can submit videos. Remember not to include music that you did not create yourself.
• Think carefully about what is uploaded or shared on social media platforms.
• Keep personal information private and take care not to give away too much identifiable information in photos and videos.
• Make sure not to feature other people in your videos, apart from family members.
• It is important to talk to your child regularly about online safety. Let them know they can come to you or another trusted adult if they’re feeling worried, pressured, upset or unsafe.
Team captains play an important role in looking out for all the members of a team, from diffusing differences between players to boosting morale. For this week’s challenge, former Premier League defender and captain Ashley Williams wants to know if you have what it takes to talk like a team captain.
Audio described version with transcript available.
For this challenge, we want you to write a short team talk to motivate and inspire your team. You could be the captain of any team you choose, whether that’s your favourite Premier League football team, a team at school or an imaginary one. Everything you need to write the perfect team talk can be found in our free challenge resource pack.
Make sure you share your team talk for the chance to win this week’s prize book: Frankie’s Magic Football by Frank Lampard. Ask your teacher or parent/carer to send us your entries via Twitter @PLCommunities using #PLPrimaryStars or email us at PLPrimaryStars@premierleague.com. You might also find yourself on our community page as our Star of the Week!
Just as Premier League players have to prepare for each match, it’s important for us to make sure we fully prepare our minds and bodies before taking part in exercise. That’s why we want you to get your blood pumping and heart rate rising with this week’s challenge, set by TV presenter Ben Shires.
Audio described version with transcript available.
For the Super Movers warm-up challenge, we’re asking you to create your very own warm-up routine and Super Move! Get inspired for creating your warm-up and Super Move by using the videos in our challenge pack. The activity sheet in the pack explains why being active is important for our minds and bodies and includes a template for you to set and write your own movement goals for the week ahead, recording how you feel before and after fulfilling them.
Film and send us your warm-up routine and Super Move via email at PLPrimaryStars@premierleague.com or on Twitter @PLCommunities using #PLPrimaryStars for your chance to win! By sending us your entries, you could grab yourself this week’s prize book: The Racehorse that Wouldn’t Gallop by Clare Balding, and even find yourself as our Star of the Week on our community page.
Whether it’s to play games, learn from home or stay connected with others, we use the internet in so many ways. But how do we know if the information we find online is reliable and how can we make sure we’re using the internet responsibly?

We’d like you and your family to develop a character, using our role on the wall technique. This is a really fun way to make notes about what a character looks like on the outside, AND what they are like on the inside. You could do this about a character that you want to create for a story. You could share what you feel about life in lockdown, and what you want to feel like when it is over! Everything you need can be found in our Role On The Wall challenge resources.
A live event with our star author, Helena Pielichaty, will take place at 10.30 on Tuesday 2 February, presented by CBBC’s Ben Shires. Watch the event on the National Literacy Trust’s Words for Life website. You can even get a free copy of the first book in Helena’s Girls FC series from this page!
