Quiz masters challenge (3 March 2021)

We are joining once again with the National Literacy Trust to bring you another exciting challenge and live event this week to celebrate WORLD BOOK DAY!

To explain this week’s Quiz masters challenge, here are top football authors, Alex Bellos & Ben Lyttleton!:

Audio-described version with transcript available.

We’d like you and your family to write your own quiz. Quizzes are a really fun way to share the knowledge you have and to learn new things.

We recommend that you make the quiz multiple-choice: that is, for each question give three possible answers, labelled a), b) and c), only one of which is correct. Make sure the questions are not too difficult, not too easy, and try to make one of the (wrong) answers funny. Some of the best learning comes with laughter! Download our free resource pack including top tips on how to create a great quiz and a template to help you write it.

A special World Book Day live event with our star authors, Alex Bellos and Ben Lyttleton, will take place at 9:15am on World Book Day (Thursday 4 March), presented by CBBC’s Kenzie Benali. There will also be a live quiz, featuring questions from footballers and the chance to win a book box for your school!

Find out how to watch the event on the National Literacy Trust’s Words for Life website. You can also read a copy of the first book in the Football School series for FREE on this page!

Don’t forget to show us your amazing quizzes with us by sharing them on Twitter @PLCommunities using #PLPrimaryStars or emailing them to PLPrimaryStars@premierleague.com. You might even find yourself as our Star of the Week on our community page!

Remember to stay safe online

Only include the young person's first name and age on their pictures, posts and correspondence with us.
While we want children and young people to use their initiative and to be creative with their communication, it is important they follow social distancing guidelines and stay safe.

Safety tips:

  • Parents/carers should stay engaged and support their children, particularly if taking part online or by phone.
  • Think carefully about what is uploaded or shared on social media platforms.
  • Keep personal information private and take care not to give away too much identifiable information in photos and videos.
  • Make sure you have permission to take and share photos or videos of relatives, friends or neighbours.
  • Children and young people should never meet up with anyone they don’t know in real life without a parent/carer present.
  • Parents and carers - it is important to talk to your child regularly about online safety. Let them know they can come to you or another trusted adult if they’re feeling worried, pressured, upset or unsafe.
  • Children and young people can visit BBC Own ItChildLine for advice or support about a wide range of issues. Parents/carers can visit Internet Matters for online safety advice and support.

Before filming and sending us any videos, make sure to note:

• Only parents or teachers can submit videos. Remember not to include music that you did not create yourself.

• Think carefully about what is uploaded or shared on social media platforms.

• Keep personal information private and take care not to give away too much identifiable information in photos and videos.

• Make sure not to feature other people in your videos, apart from family members.
